It is famous for helping to plot on their Nolan Chart, where you fall on the grid based on your answers to some pretty basic political, socio-economic questions.

While I certainly applaud the Nolan Chart and The Advocates for their efforts in helping to promote Libertarian thought and acceptance, I wonder if it may have come with a price- that of misinterpretation.

For example, look at this chart... 60% social, 60% economic scores.

and this chart... 60% social, 100% economic scores.

and this chart... 100% social, 60% economic scores.

Now, try not to lose me here... see the chart- it's all math- but the math is incomplete.

Take for instance, 6/10 x 6/10 = 36/100 or 36%. They score that as high centrist. I disagree. I believe that a score of 36% put to the pole directly between Libertarian and Authoritarian/Statist is decidedly Statist. Simply count by 10s strait up from zero- where is that on the chart?

Now, 6/10 x 10/10 or 6/10 x 1 = 6/10 or 60%, in the charts above that is Libertarian, if socially dominant, then liberal, if economically dominant then conservative tendencies. I will argue here that either of those scores is centrist.

In fact 50-60-69% is centrist either way and below 50% is decidedly statist with aggressiveness toward anti-libertarian society either socialist or fascist respectively.

Put another way, the chart fights to break society of their left-center-right paradigm, but it forgets to introduce more concretely, more accurately, the vertical axis of liberty/tyranny.

At the same time, it fails in its own math to accurately show that centrists do not fall on either axis, but instead plot themselves more accurately in the region:
50%s vs 100%e
70%s vs 100%e
100%s vs 70%e
100%s vs 50%e
and any %s x %e that is a composite score between 50 to 70% measured by the vertical axis.
Indeed, a score of 50%s x 50%e is 25% and statist, not centrist.

Further, I believe that Minarchist Libertarians fall between 70% to 99% of the vertical wether or not they reside precisely on the axis itself, and that plumb-line libertarian, anarcho-capitalists, and agorists would reside at 100%s/e with the Agorists and Stateless being the over-achievers.

A Quick Lesson on Illegitimate Authority

<img style="float:left; - Proverbs 22:1 NASB

As soon as your parents or guardians filled out the paperwork for your Social Security Number, registering your birth name to the State, they gave your name to the state, your very identity became state property. That they do this willfully shows their ignorance, and that you have grown used to the state-registered name is a tragedy. It was the complete destruction of your good name, and flies in the face of scripture- and why- FOR TAX PURPOSES- to write you off as a child-deduction! Care to research how Jesus felt about taxes?

You want to be known by a name that is not associated with the state. You want to conduct your affairs in a private fashion, and you certainly do not want to be known by a state-controlled name.

So when people think of changing their name, what do they think of? Usually women change their name when they get married, to take their husband's name. That would be fine if both had private names and held a private ceremony, without a marriage license, state-licensed minister, from a 501(c)(3) irs-controlled church. But what usually happens, is women fill out a Social Security form and inform the Social Security office of their new married name. This is the standard by which people have come to think of changing their name! In short- as long as the government is told- willingly or unwillingly, its okay. If you have ever leased a car- ask your finance company how voluntary repossession works! Talk about stupidity and irresponsibility! Whose business is it if you want to change your name, but your own? and maybe your spouse. Go ahead and be traditional, take your husband's name. Which name will you take? His state-name or a truly private identity one or both of you create for yourselves. But this can be assumed, you do not need to inform some government agency just because you decide to change your name.

So what if you did give it up, got the license, told social security, now what?

Well, there is no time like the present to assume a new name, on your own.

We are not really talking about a pseudonym here- which means "false name", because we take the position that the State cannot tell you who you are- even in the unfortunate case of your parents' submission to illegitimate authority. You can be who you want to be, and be known and called how you want to be called. That name is real. It is more real than any name the state may call you. We also believe you can decide for how long and for what purposes you would like to have a name. You can very easily be known by different names in different contexts, and these names can be you- for real. You simply feel comfortable in different contexts being called different names. Just don't call you late for dinner!

This is not easy. You will have public pseudonyms other than even your private assumed name(s)- a set of names you register with state and federal agencies only as necessary- but you should live your life in such a way that tracked activities under any state or federal names for you, happen anywhere else than where you are. This includes the name you were born with that was given a SSN.

Try not to be so complicated that you can't manage it well. It really helps to have someone private who can help you with "a name and a game."

Once you catch the fever for privacy, you may even begin to resent what was done to you by forcing you to self-identify all your life with state and federal ID numbers connected to your name.

WARNING!

Increasingly the concept of Privacy, especially holding things private from government, is being equated to Terrorism, High Crime, and otherwise held in low regard. After all, you do not have anything to hide, do you? is the oft repeated phrase. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."

"The Matrix cannot tell you who you are." - Morpheus, Neo, Trinity, The Matrix, 1999

We believe, among other things, "The State cannot tell you who you are."

First Class = Terrorism

During the Obama Administration, a friend of fellow Democrat Bill Clinton, found himself on the No-Fly List...

Gilbert Chagoury, 64, a Nigerian citizen of Lebanese descent, was pulled off a private jet Jan. 15 at Teterboro airport in New Jersey and detained for more than four hours after federal agents discovered his name was on the then-recently updated no-fly list.

The private jet crew of two and four other passengers were detained for four-and-a-half hours while agents questioned Chagoury. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) would require buyers to present identification when purchasing a prepaid cellphone and require phone companies to keep the information on file, as they do with users of landline phones and subscription-based cellphones. The proposal would require the carriers to retain the data for 18 months after the phone's deactivation.

"This proposal is overdue because for years, terrorists, drug kingpins and gang members have stayed one step ahead of the law by using prepaid phones that are hard to trace," Schumer said.

Faisal Shahzad, the 30-year-old suspect in the Times Square plot, allegedly used a prepaid cellphone to arrange the purchase of a Nissan Pathfinder that he attempted to turn into a car bomb, the senators noted. He also used the phone to make a series of calls to Pakistan before the bomb attempt...

Full Article Washington Post, Ellen Nakashima, May 26, 2010

...and this from Wikipedia

Privacy rights and prepaid mobile phones

A concern of police and security agencies worldwide is that prepaid mobile services allow the user to be anonymous and therefore facilitate criminal or terrorist activities. Prepaid phone users can be anonymous for two reasons:

* the prepaid SIM card can be sold in a shop like any other goods. There is no need to register them at point of sale, unlike postpaid phones who have to credit check the user before allowing them to purchase and enter into a contract.
* Because prepaid services can often be topped up using cash and vouchers, there is no way to trace the payment and hence determine the identity of a prepaid phone user from payment records.

It has been suggested that the solution to this problem is to register the users of prepaid mobile phones. Such legislation faces heavy opposition from providers and consumers of prepaid service, as many consumers who desire privacy for legitimate purposes or simply by personal preference find anonymity to be the primary selling point of prepaid phones. Currently, according to a 2005 study[1] 9 of 24 surveyed OECD countries require prepaid mobile users to register. These countries are Australia, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Norway, Slovak Republic, South Africa and Switzerland.

While there is no doubt that criminals and terrorists use telecommunication services, to date there has been no public study that has clearly examined the link of non-registration of prepaid mobile phones to greater risk of criminal or terrorist activities. However, mandatory registration may be a breach of a prepaid user privacy, and currently the question various jurisdictions have decided on or are examining is whether this privacy breach is an appropriate action versus the threat that anonymous usage of prepaid services pose.

-Full Wiki

of course the real reason the government wants only grid cell phones...

Privacy

Cell phones have numerous privacy issues associated with them, and are regularly used by governments to perform surveillance.

Law enforcement and intelligence services in the UK and the US possess technology to remotely activate the microphones in cell phones in order to listen to conversations that take place nearby the person who holds the phone.

Mobile phones are also commonly used to collect location data. The geographical location of a mobile phone can be determined easily (whether it is being used or not), using a technique known multilateration to calculate the differences in time for a signal to travel from the cell phone to each of several cell towers near the owner of the phone.

-Full Wiki

I can't think of a better way to keep track of oh, say, 234 Million People (76% of 308 Million US POPULATION)- naaa, they wouldn't use it on them, would they?

...the Obama administration has argued that Americans enjoy no “reasonable expectation of privacy” in their—or at least their cell phones’—whereabouts. They vote, because they think it matters. They pay taxes, so they think others should as well. In fact, because they comply, they see it as completely unreasonable that others do not, or prefer not to do so. The goal again, is to show that the structure built around the SSN to enslave us cannot stand and must fall. When we have sufficiently destroyed the dependability of the SSN, I think we go after Drivers Licenses- in this way, we will compromise federal and state means of subordinating citizens. This will be accomplished.

Remember, only those who WISH to participate will be included, no attempt to use information of others not involved in privacy2p is allowed or encouraged. First, Do No Harm.

We will be free.

Privacy To The People, a Libertarian Manifesto

Got a government number? Share it.

The use of Social Security Numbers, Passport Numbers, Tax ID Numbers, Employer Identification Numbers, Drivers License Numbers, License Plates, State ID Numbers, Addresses, Phone Numbers, Email addresses, IP addresses, MAC addresses, VISA and Mastercard and other numbers serves for one primary purpose above all else- to track and render subordinate every individual in the world to the
government that claims them as its subject. These subordinates have no real human rights that cannot be tazed, shot, renditioned or taxed away. Their property, fully paid, without mortgage, has no allodial title, but is fee simple and can be seized for non-payment of tribute, or simply taken for political purposes. Worse still, technology is making it harder and harder for individuals to maintain private lives, conduct private conversations, transact private business, or otherwise remain untraced, unrecorded, from public view or government view.

It would be one thing, if each and every party an individual interacted with, using a number to track transactions, was unique to their interests. Even still, in that best case, the government still demands, even without search warrant or probable cause, the surrender to “authorities” sensitive, private information about you. Worse, private corporations have learned all too well, that they can know, and store everyone's personal information. Stop and think for a moment what that popular search engine and free email provider know about you already. Would you have sat there in the CEO's office and said all of it to his face? What about dear Uncle Sam?

Is it too late? Is privacy dead?
Not yet.

Think gnutella
Think virtual phone number, pre-paid phones
Think Jason Bourne
Think GPL
Think foreign corporations
Think identity theft upside down

It's illegal to steal information. But it can never be illegal to share it. In fact, if it became illegal to share it, all transactions would stop. You apply your government ID to a sort of GPL, a general public license to use.

Open up your bank statement, your credit card statement, your ez-pass account- what do you see? You are on the grid. Your behaviors financial and otherwise are known. You can't or don't pay cash for everything, and most keep very little cash in their pockets today. Got a gun license? On a no-fly list? Privacy is not about criminal behavior- if it was, psychiatrists would be out of work, and diaries would be illegal.

Think of it like this- in a world of street cameras, facial recognition can easily identify the few people in off hours- but crowds can be harder to differentiate.

It's time to take personal privacy private. All government identifiers freely shared between willing participants around the globe. That means you allow others who you do not know, to use your government numbers. This is the price you pay for using someone else's.

Now- there is a strategy. Computer viruses are tracked and large deployments are called storms. Natural viruses have clusters of affected areas. Before outbreaks go nationwide they are regional. This is how this system will also work. Why? Because too many outliers can pinpoint a problem. We do not want the behavior curtailed before it has had its intended effect: the complete unreliability and undependability of government identifiers.

When everyone can say about their social security number, that most of the records in that number have nothing to do with them, that each separate instance was randomly involving someone else, then they become unworthy, When drivers licenses become used by others they become unworthy. When passports become used by others they are unworthy. They can't kill us all and they can't put us all away. The sharing of this information willfully is not a crime.

We will achieve un-know-ability by government and corporations.

We will be private people once more. Able to produce private means of business and personal relationship. When the government can't depend on its own numbers to tax or spend on its subjects, we will no longer be its subjects. We will truly be free.

Just as Karmabanque.com is targeting the most vulnerable corporations, we need to be smart about it. We may not be able to implement across the board obfuscation. We simply need to work down the list in order of priority- sort of like the debt snowball- as a group we work in concert to trade a certain identifier until it is unworthy, then move to the next. We cannot simply pair-up to keep using the same alternate number- it must be random. Eventually, even with new laws on the books every day, this will
be unstoppable.

Start now.

*We are not encouraging or condoning Identity Theft- which involves the stealing of a number without the owner's knowledge- rather, we are encouraging willful transactional allowance for use. In other words, you grant permission for your ID to be used by another individual. You are not responsible for their actions, and take no liability. You do not even know who is using it at any moment. Libertarian principles apply: First, Do No Harm. Private Property Rights. No one gets a list.
